MARSHALL M. FREDERICKS SCULPTURE MUSEUM &
SAGINAW VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY
The Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum is a FREE museum and sculpture garden that features a unique collection of more than 200 sculptures that span the 70-year career of “America’s Public Sculptor,” Marshall M. Fredericks (1908-1998), as well as rotating exhibitions featuring artists from around the world. Fredericks is known nationally and internationally for his impressive monumental figurative sculpture, public memorials, fountains, portraits, and medals.
Jo Anne and Donald Petersen Sculpture Garden, adjacent to the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum on the campus of Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU), displays approximately two dozen of Marshall Fredericks’s sculptures. Benches are located within the winding walkways of the beautifully landscaped garden. It’s a destination where people come to reflect, relax, socialize, have lunch, and enjoy the sites of beautiful bronze sculptures and botanical beds, and the sounds of water created by the Day and Night Fountain and the Otter Pool. Three of Fredericks’s sculptures are located a short distance away such as Leaping Gazelle by the Zahnow Library, Cleveland War Memorial in front of Founders Hall and The Harlequin Clowns located inside Curtiss Hall.
In addition to the many Marshall Fredericks sculptures, there are several other public artworks on campus of SVSU you will want to explore too.
