ABOUT: This sculpture illustrates the Aesop Fable “The Lion and the Mouse.”  Fredericks’s rendition depicts the end of the story in which the tiny mouse returns the king of the jungle’s kindness by pulling a thorn from his paw.

The J. L. Hudson Company commissioned this sculpture in 1957 for Eastland Center in Harper Woods, Michigan.
