ABOUT: As part of Studio 23's Art Around the City Event, artists were invited to submit their pieces. Only 50 would be selected, printed, and featured on plaques around Bay City. Shelly Taylor gave an artist's statement for the project: "​With over six decades of life experience, Shelly Taylor is a feral artist without formal training. A curious child, her artistic grandmother encouraged her to explore creativity. As a teen, she taught herself pyrography. She worked in the printing industry before taking a job as a Graphic Artist at a municipal government agency. In 2005, she built an online e-commerce website and became an entrepreneur.

Shelly began publicly showing her art in 2022. No longer concentrating on pyrography, she is currently focused on smaller works of art and is experimenting with mixed-media materials."
