ARTIST: Built by Davidson Shipyard DATE: ca. 1895 TYPE: Historical artifact MEDIA: Wood and iron ABOUT: According to the Bay City Historical Museum, the Sacramento was launched in 1895, was 303 feet long and had a depth of 26 feet. The ship hauled coal and ore throughout Great Lakes. Due to vandalism and arson, the Sacramento would eventually sink to the muddy depths of the Davidson Shipyard. The City of Bay City would later recover the remains of the ship and preserve the ships rudder as a nod to the area’s history.
