TITLE: Ripple Effect
ARTIST: Mark Piotrowski DATE: 2018-2022 TYPE: Mural ABOUT: The Midtown Mural on the side of the Ashman Plaza, home of Live Oak Coffeehouse, was created in 2018 by local artist Mark Piotrowski. It was commissioned by the building owners, Reneé and Aaron Deckrow. The mural imagery was inspired by a quote from Mother Teresa, “ I alone, cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” Of the project Reneé reflects, “Public Art has always shared a special place in my heart – it’s about creating accessible and shared experiences. Murals in particular, have the power to transform forgotten or neglected spaces into breathtaking masterpieces, surprising viewers with moments of delight. I strongly believe that art serves as a beautiful outlet for expressing emotions, fostering, healing, joy, and the sense of play with a community. For us Public Art isn’t just about dreaming; it’s a way to reimagine what our own little corner of the world could become.” LOCATION: 713 Ashman Street, Midland, Michigan |
