ABOUT: As part of Studio 23's Art Around the City Event, artists were invited to submit their pieces. Only 50 would be selected, printed, and featured on plaques around Bay City. J.P. Alexsander gave an artist's statement for the project: "J.P. Aleksander was born in Poland and moved to the U.S. in 1982. His artistic talent was evident in childhood, but he pursued the sciences, which led to a Ph.D. in ceramics and material science. In his youth he apprenticed with several contemporary painters, studied art history, and practiced clay sculpture and oil painting. After retiring, he took on painting as a full-time pursuit. His home and painting studio are located in Midland, Michigan."
