ABOUT: Dahlia Hill Society of Midland’s purpose is to impart knowledge about growing dahlias, and at the same time, provide free public access to the benefits of nature through the incredibly diverse world of dahlias.

In 1992, Charles Breed, whose art and design studios are adjacent to the garden, requested permission to plant dahlias on Bill Fisher’s hillside property. Bill contributed 200 yards of topsoil and Charles donated 1,700 tubers. Together they created the first Dahlia Hill garden. In 1998, the Dahlia Hill Society of Midland was established as a nonprofit organization and purchased the garden property from Fisher Contracting Company. Before long, the Dahlia Hill volunteers were planting over 3,000 tubers each spring.
