Bay County Boys
TITLE: Bay County Boys
ARTIST: John Pauling DATE: 1924 TYPE: Sculpture MEDIUM: Bronze ABOUT: The "Doughboy" bronze statue outside the Historic Sage Branch library is a tribute to the 83 men that Bay County contributed to World War I, who served in 1917-1918. The Doughboy Statue was erected in 1924 after the Bay City Women's Improvement Committee approached the Bay City Commission with the idea for the project, but has since been under the care of BCLS. It was recently renovated in 2017 to remove 94 years of built-up oxidation with a fundraising project made possible by then 15 year old Madden Brady. LOCATION: Sage Library, Bay City, Michigan |
