DATE: 2020 TYPE: Mural MEDIA: Paint ABOUT: Having been awarded with $25,000 by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the City of Saginaw and the Great Mural Project chose Court Street in Old Town Saginaw to be revamped with street murals. Three murals exist, the intersection of Michigan & Court, "In Harmony", which features a cherry blossom tree and piano keys, celebrating diversity through nature and music. The second is on Hamilton & Court, "The Children of the Sun", with the Saginaw river flowing through the center of this layout, surrounded by leaves, West African Akindra tribe symbols that represent greatness, hope, unity, and change, and a Monarch butterfly, signifying evolution and growth. The final mural is on Ezra Rust and Fordney, "Diversity, Unity, and Transformation", a mandala with figures holding hands, symbolizing unity and diversity, as well as transformation.
