ABOUT: The Midland Area Community Foundation selected fourteen artists to paint twelve benches and 2 picnic tables and transform them into usable murals in a move to beautify the downtown space and give the community an artistic voice. Artist Selena Ashley gave an artist statement for the project, ​"Selena Bender is a local Michigan artist specializing in hand lettering and graphic design. Inspired by color, florals and wanderlust her mission is to create art that provokes a sense of belonging. Selena hopes her art makes you feel valued, loved and understood.
This bench was commissioned by LINKS and Dow Credit Union, and facilitated by Parker Lane Art & Design Studio."
